For me, the very first woman who gave me a voice, helped develop my confidence, and taught me how to fight for what I believe in was Norah Kelynack. Norah fought for equity at a time when the word was barely understood. Even though she passed some years ago, her words of hope, wisdom, and tenacious strength continue to guide me today.
In celebrating this year’s International Women’s Day theme #embraceequity, I recognise those women and men who have fought to reframe fixed mindsets, opened doors of opportunity, and provided collegial guidance to support all women.
Honouring the dignity of one another is the greatest gift we can give to support our global family. We are one. As a mother of two daughters, I hope their lives are enriched by people who love, support, and grow them so that they can pass on their wisdom to the world.
There are so many women and men to recognise today. I will not name them all but thank them for their authenticity, insight, and faith in me. I wish to acknowledge Mark Pavisich, Dr Pina Ford, Dr Antonella Poncini, Caroline Mansfield, Dr Shaun Ridley FAIM, Nicola Davidson FACEL, Meika Pfeiffer-Gough, Deanna Campisi, Kirrily Kilbane, Meredith Roe, Jenny Cole, Fiona Millimaci, Loretta Hackner-Rowland, Carmen Dougall, Laura Allison PhD, Cathy Cavanaugh
